Christine & Brendan's Wedding

Here's another wedding I shot back in the Spring with the creative and fun Kelly Vasami. The couple, Christine & Brendan, were also very creative and fun, and I had a blast shooting it.

I'm into the details. I figure you spend so much time and energy picking everything out, might as well document it!
















I like how this shot subtly says "anticipation" without any faces.....






















More detail.....I like blurring out the background and some of the foreground in my closeups.


Mom and Dad gingerly preparing the dress.....a ceremony in itself!


I like to shoot a variety of makeup application shots. Some traditional, then maybe a little graphic and then (with the help of some great window light), closeup details.....






I love the genuine nature of reaction shots.




Such pretty details on the dress (and as a female, I am very envious of her waistline!)


Just the girls. I like the photojournalistic nature of this image.


A simple subject can look interesting when composed in a unique way.


The ceremony took place at The Highlands Country Club in Garrison, NY. Classic and elegant. (I thinnk those are my two favorite wedding words!)

I couldn't get enough of shooting with the dramatic chandelier in the background. I tried a few different approaches, not all together vastly different from each other but I think each has its own character. And I can't make a decision on which I like best so here are a bunch.

One Year Old Twins

This little brother/sister duo turned one and their parents felt the special occasion should be commemorated with photos. I couldn't agree more. I was particularly impressed that both kids lasted (i.e., stayed awake without any inconsolable crying fits) for the entire session. My kids, on the other hand, are so over me trying to get their picture that at this point they just ignore me. Well, I prefer unposed shots anyway.

Back to the twins....

I shot this series of photos in Pepsico Gardens, a favorite locale of mine for both family/kid portraits and weddings. (Not to mention just a great place to spend an afternoon. ) Pair the beautiful backdrops with a fun loving family of four, and here's the result....

Happy First Birthday!

Amanda & Jay

A bride to be called me recently and asked to see some recent wedding samples. I opened my mouth to say, "Have a look at my blog!" only to stop myself because I haven't updated this in so long. I guess I'm a bad blogger! I can see this will be a New Year's Resolution for 2010.


Well, for those that have been waiting for more images, here are some from Amanda and Jay's wedding back in May. I had the pleasure of second shooting this one with my friend Kelly. It was particularly special because the couple are both in the military. I got to photograph Jay getting ready with all his cool military apparel.

















































































Amanda & Jay looked so elegant together. I particularly love the shot of them about to kiss, but their lips aren't touching yet. Such a tender moment.

I don't think I'll ever tire of photographing a wedding dress.....










































This is one of my favorites from the day. Right before the ceremony is such a great time to capture something so pensive. Getting Jay's parents in the background brings a whole new dimension to it, too. Well, at least I think so.

This shot right here points to why it's fun to be the second shooter sometimes.....shooting from the balcony getting a closeup shot of Amanda's dad congratulating her.

This little cutie pie was really hamming it up for me.

























When couples think of what their wedding pictures will look like, they (naturally) often try to imagine the photos that I got of them enjoying their moments. I love the look on the couples' face when I show them images of their loved ones feeling so happy for them. Amanda's mom is beaming here. The maid of honor was cheering them on the loudest, I think.
































These sweet ladies are sisters! I wonder if they have a photo of them when they were little for comparison?
