Allison & Tommy

I had the pleasure of second shooting with the fabulous Kelly Vasami a few times this past season. It's quite a nice mix for me to shoot second every so often because it really offers a unique perspective. I literally get to stand in places that I don't normally get to stand. Keeps me on my toes.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun photographing Allison and Tommy's wedding. Allison got ready at home with her entire family. This wide perspective really sets the scene.

Pretty bridal portrait.

Bridal formals were done and Allison snuck downstairs to touch up her makeup.

Allison's nieces and nephews were clearly a very important part of the big day...

The ring bearer must have asked 100 times, "Is the limo hear yet? Is the limo hear yet?"
"No, sweetie" I said, "but if you hold this bouquet it may come a little faster."
"OK."

Thankfully the limo came soon after. ;-)

Keeping my camera focused on the door crack, I was determined to get a sliver of Allison when the door opened right before she walked down the aisle.

Tilting the camera is fun for walking-down-the-aisle shots.

Tommy's a happy guy.

The church had a lovely outdoor area for taking photos....

Off to Ceola Manor for photos on the grounds before the cocktail hour began. The gazebo and surrounding greenery made great backdrops.

Allison's ruffled dress and bright bouquet were so unique. Gave me great texture and composition opportunity for this photo.

Allison and Tommy enjoying their first few married hours....

It's cool to take some more serious shots, too.

And last but not least....if you ever wondered if you can kiss and smile at the same time, take a look at this shot. It is possible!

Congrats again, Allison and Tommy, and thanks to Kelly for a fun day of second shooting!

Julie & Raphael's Wedding

It's Blog catch-up time at Rappa Photography. My pre-Spring wedding season mission is to post at least some of the late 2009 weddings and portrait sessions that never made it here, one of which was the wonderful wedding of Julie and Raphael.

Julie and Raphael's wedding was actually the last wedding I shot in 2009 and I remember thinking, "It's always great to end the season with a wedding like this." Julie and Rafael were such a sweet, laid back couple who were clearly in love, celebrating their union with tender, tear-jerking moments and knew how to rock it when the party started.

How cute are they?

Julie was simply giddy and enjoying the formal portrait session.

Sweet and sensual.

Their reception was held at the exquisite Tappan Hill Mansion by Abigail Kirsch in Tarrytown. The entrance is spectacular. As we shot this, it was pouring outside and I couldn't have cared less!

Using the stairs in a non-traditional way.

The decor was lovely - a perfect balance of bling and elegant florals.

The first dance was so emotional (and one of the previously mentioned tear-jerking moments). Tears of joy all around. I always say I'm glad I can hide behind my big camera.

The best man and maid of honor speeches were a highlight of the evening. Notice how the guests in the background are all grins.

You can just feel the love here.

My favorite shot of the day....an innocent kiss in a magnificent setting. Congrats, Julie and Raphael!
