Family Fall Foliage

What a great time of year to photograph this lovely family that came back to me for another session. My how the kids have grown. So glad we are documenting another stage of their lives because clearly you have to blink with caution!

Each one of these kids is sweeter than the next. What a cooperative trio.

I like to move in closer and blur the background, transforming the light coming through the trees into spheres of light.

 I just love the rustic wooden bridges along the river. Add a few kids, shoot low and voila.

Before we know it the height differences won't be as apparent so I like to show the upward diagonal this way.

 Onto individual portraits. Eyes full of clarity and then I fade the focus slightly elsewhere.

 Fall's golden colors add a soft spirit to these images.

 Here eyes were sparkling and I just needed to capture that angelic look. One of my faves of the day.

 Down to the riverbank we went. The light along her hairline frames her image.

 I like his naturally boyish stance. This would be a nice shot to repeat in the same spot through the years.

 I like to blur the foreground, too, so I shot through some bushes for this effect.

 Traditional, sharp shot.

 Mom wanted to capture his toothless smile....such a sweet age.

 I wanted to frame that blurred foreground around him and felt it would be a stronger image if he looked away,

 Back to that awesome wood texture. I like to use the line of the beam to draw you into the subject.

 All we had to do is turn around and shoot down to find a different background.

 Some more mature images for big bro.

 I taught him how to "serious smile." He was good at it!

 I like the off center composition here.

 Back to the middle but the vibrant yellow foliage adds interest.

The sun was peaking through the foliage, sometimes making it tricky to shoot with complimentary light but the light glowed perfectly in this spot.

I wanted them a little serious for this one and thinks it works well with the full body showing and more background.

 Time to get silly!

 The texture of the rocks is great here.

 Sweet and traditional. One of my faves for sure.

 Time for the whole family along this beautiful scene.

 I envision this in a frame with very wide white matting and a thick black frame.

 What a lineup!

 Had to get that waterfall in there and I like the subjects clustered to the right.

 More traditional. I always capture a few options within a series.

 Mom and Dad deserve photos, too. Lookin' good!

 I think at this point there was mention of Dunkin Doughnuts as a reward for behaving well. ;-)

 Just look at that gorgeous reflection of trees into the river. Insert cute kids here.

 I love this goofiness!

 And there is it - family in fall foliage. A great bunch all around.
