Welcome Baby Axel

You might recognize a familiar face from this newborn session....I photographed Zoe's communion portraits back in the Spring and soon after her family welcomed a new baby into the family. Introducing Baby Axel...probably the coolest named kid I ever photographed. He was so calm and we found the perfect light to compliment his mood. Add a unique texture and delicious cheeks and you have yourself a lovely photo.

When baby is so peaceful, I take the opportunity to shoot lots of different angles and crops.  And every so often he would sigh and smile. This photo explains why babies are good for the soul. So content just being.
One can't help but be mesmerized by a new baby's perfect little parts. I wanted the focus of the photo to be on his itty bitty hand and cropped his head in just enough to show the size juxtaposition as well as his closed eyes.
Can't forget the foot. My father in law always says babies come out with perfectly manicured fingers and feet...so true.
Not to mention perfect lips.
Time to change so mommy picks him up....look at that smile...I DARE YOU not to giggle.
Enter Zoe and big brother Tyson. A perfect triangle.
Anyone with more than one child knows how challenging it could be to get more than one child to partake in a photo.  We took our time, made everyone comfortable and then snapped away.
I felt this sweet moment should be in black and white. Timeless.
I like showing Baby Axel's full body length compared to his siblings. And that outfit...how stinkin' cute is that?!
Body parts and a trio of siblings blurred in the background.
Photos with just bro and just sis.

More little hands...it's nice to show your kids shots like this as they get bigger.
Although this is clearly staged, I like to take it because it's every parents' goal lol.
Back to mom for some lovin'. Shots like this show the precious size of a newborn.
I just love this one....a favorite of the day for sure. Even without seeing faces, to me it conveys that baby needs mama.
I switched up the ring/toes shot with an off centered composition.
A slightly fussy moment but I like how this shows the calm nature of this experienced mom.
More portraits of just baby. It seems like he's dreaming of working with his hands.
I shot at an angle very close to the blanket to capture its texture and make you feel as though you're right next to him.
Favorite of the day. I think it's because it's often the view I had of my babies resting on me.
I wanted to get an individual portrait of Tyson since the new babe was getting lots of attention and I had already done Zoe's communion portraits. Funny thing is this was the first shot of the day I did as a light test. Keeper!
A cute shots of the two that are now no longer two. ;-)
We headed outside to get some greenery in the photos. Apparently this is the "photography bush" in the family.  All 3 kids content, some nice textured grass and I even like the slight flare.
Once again, there's something about the intimate moments needing to be in black and white.
Laying low in the grass, I like the triangle shot in this environment.
Last but not least, this is what it's all about.
I was delighted to photograph yet another milestone for this sweet family. Is is truly the sincerest form of flattery and makes each session exponentially sweeter!
